Manuscript map of the Tautane Survey District, province of Hawke's Bay, from the Mangahewa Stream that borders the Hawke's Bay and Wellington boundary, southwards to Piako and the Waimato Stream, to its exit at the sea. Depicts land purchases of J Esdale (Application 1897 of 42 acres along the 'Mangaohewa' Stream) and William Speedy (Application 1790 of 42 acres adjacent to the sea).Also shows large area of land reserved from sale as a quarantine ground for stock, Esdale's house beside the Mangahewa Stream, Whakaroro, area of heavy bush, scrub and sheep boundary fence.
