Historical Notes: Artist Tilli Frankel (nee Donsbach) was the first wife of Otto Frankel; they were married in 1925 and arrived in New Zealand in 1929. The marriage was dissolved two years before this portrait was drawn. She later remarried and became Tilli Aldrich.
