Victoria Avenue, Wanganui, looking east towards the Watt Memorial Fountain (in the centre of the intersection with Ridgway Street) and the Wanganui River. The second Post Office and clock tower are at the extreme right, and the premises of R H White & Co are in the Pheonix Building, on the corner of Ridgway street. Photograph taken by William James Harding between 1881 and 1889.

Historical Notes: The Watt Memorial Fountain was erected in 1881, in honour of the gift of a municipal water supply. It was moved to Cooks Gardens in 1908.
