South Pacific - Fiji - Ammunition tunnels at Tamavua, Viti Levu, 1940-1942

Ammunition tunnels driven into the soapstone at Tamavua. These ten tunnels were the first driven by members of the N.Z.E.F. in Fiji. Soap stone is a variety of soft rock. The interior of each tunnel was given a coat of cement wash and remained perfectly dry.
