Historical Notes: Dated around 1890 as this is assumed to be the exterior of Mrs Birley's establishment shown in A-169-032. She is listed in Wises as a hotel-keeper in Queenstown during the 1880s, and then at Glenorchy in 1890-91. In 1892, J.K. Birley is listed as the hotel-keeper of Mt Earnslaw Hotel, Glenorchy, which may be a grander establishment than this one!
