"Rara" at Drek-na-Wai, Wai-na-Buka, 1881

View of the central village space (in this case "rara" refers to a village green). On the right background, buildings can be seen, and on the left a row of coconut palms. Across the front of the picture stand a line of men, some carrying clubs. All are dressed in cotton fabrics and three are wearing turban like head gear. The space they stand on is covered in grasses, and behind them (left) is a taro patch.
