Roko Vuaka, village at the head of the Wai-na-Buka, 1881

View of the village, the buildings and the grassy hill in the background partly screened by palm trees. In the foreground (left) stand two men and three children. One of the men raises a circular fan aloft. Two men also stand on the right of the picture, and behind them a very young child looks out from behind a palm. Except for one of the men everyone is wearing cotton fabrics. The exception is the man on the extreme left who wears a long kilt of shredded leaves.
