Scene on the River Wai-na-Buka, 1881

One Fijian man stands, and two European men sit, on a canoe at the edge of the river. The Fijian man holds a pole for propelling the canoe, and one of the European men holds a gun. On the far side of the river the bank rises steeply to hilly country covered with forest.
