The grey-bricked Lustleigh farm-house where new billets arrive at the farm worked by World War I New Zealand soldiers awaiting discharge from Torquay, England. Shows some New Zealand soldiers outside the building and a Ford car approaching driven by a woman. On the windscreen is the lettering: New Zealand Discharge Depot Torquay. Historical Notes: Lustleigh was one of the farms of the New Zealand Discharge Depot at Torquay, Devonshire that operated in World War I. New Zealanders unfit for military service worked on 200 acres of land 14 miles from Torquay. Farms profits were shared with the Torquay Borough Council. (H T B Drew, NZ Army at Home)
