Historical Notes: "From here family worked together - fishing; smoking fish for sale; running a store with groceries and fancy goods; digging and selling kauri gum; and using their boat 'Ark' as tender to the Northern Steamship Co. The brothers also took photos around the Far North area and had their own studio here with a deep well next to it for water necessary for photographic work." (Information from back of file print)
