A Maori man in a checked dogskin cloak signing the Treaty of Waitangi at a low table, surrounded by witnesses. There are 10 further seated Maori men, awaiting their turn. At a higher table covered with a Union Jack, are two clergymen (Henry and William Williams?), the Governer (William Hobson) and a man in a top hat (either intended for Captain Nias or James Busby). The remaining witnesses are soldiers and British men, women and children.
