Evening Press :The result of running with the hare and hunting with the hounds. Supplement to the Evening Press [Wellington] Dec 4th 1890
Reference Number: A-018-030
Cartoon, accompanied by satirical verses, deriding George Fisher for abandoning his stated idealism. Shows Fisher asleep in bed, murmuring "Had such a lot of walking about canvassing old boy they want an extra rest". His feet are bare and propped up on the bed-end. Various dream-figures around the walls are commenting or asking him questions. Fisher appears to have promised to support a number of contradictory groups, such as hotel-keepers and teetotallers. The verse below the cartoon makes it clear that the election is to be held the following day and that Fisher's chances of being re-elected are not good.
