"Don't hold your breath...with the matter before the courts I can't say much, but my heart goes out to the nice guys in the police motorcade who got into trouble doing me a favour." 4 August 2005.
Reference Number: DCDL-0000028
There are two images; in the first Prime Minister, Helen Clark expresses sympathy towards the people in her speeding motorcade who are currently on trial while she distances herself from it and in the second Winston Peters, Leader of New Zealand first declares that he totally understands the distress of the two Iraqis he accused of being involved in Saddam hussein's regime. Draws a kind of parallel between the two events in which the politician expresses sympathy but accepts no blame.
