"As High Commissioner, I'm often obliged to attend as many as eight banquets a week for my country. I am no longer seeking a British pension, but do you have any idea what it costs to get a suit let out over here?" 7 May, 2005.
Reference Number: DCDL-0000806
Jonathan Hunt, New Zealand's High Commissioner to London, looking about two metres wide, is making a speech solemnly telling his audience that he is no longer seeking a British pension but is horrified at the cost of clothing alterations, necessary because of his increasing girth caused by the numerous banquets he has to attend. Jonathan Hunt was criticised for his attempt to get a British pension on top of all his other generous payments.
