Shows Maori rangatira standing with white hair, moko, feather cloak, and a greenstone mere in his right hand. The long tunic beneath his cloak has a decorated hem.

Historical Notes: The chief was dead by 1856, so Barraud must have made this copy from one of his earlier portraits, based on a painting of 1853, now in the British Library (see E-144-060).
