Historical Notes: A church at Huahine (perhaps the building seen on the foreshore in this scene) is mentioned in the account of the voyage of the ship "Collingwood" on which the artist sailed. See "Four years in the Pacific", by Lieut. the Honourable Fred Walpole (London, 1849), Volume 2, page 167.
