A tram with a sign attached to it which reads "Back to prosperity month. Objective: 500 boys in jobs before Xmas. Will you help?". The double decker tram is filled with children on both levels. In the background is a Castrol petrol station, in Wakefield Street, Wellington, with Oriental Parade in the background. Taken by an unidentified photographer, circa 1932.

Historical Notes: This is Tram no. 35 which was used for advertising (especially Art Unions) - had large boards on either side and illuminated by many light bulbs. Could only be driven by senior motormen because of the difficulties of the power supply - the light bulbs drew off so much current that they interfered with the electrically operated points.
