Bird flu over the cuckoo nest... 9 October, 2005.
Reference Number: DCDL-0000285
We see an image of a sick-looking bird flying over the parliamentary Beehive on top of which is a huge bird's nest, labelled Ministry of Health, which is festooned with signs saying 'Wear masks', 'Wash hands', 'Watch out'. The reference is to the anxiety about the possibility of bird flu arriving in New Zealand. It has now been found in wild birds in Rumania and a number of people have died from it in Asia.
