An old Maori woman (kuia) squatting down at the doorway of her small whare with walls sheathed with manuka and secured in place. Hens are scratching in the ground in front of the whare. A tin bath is on the right of the dwelling. The locality is unidentified. Photograph taken by William A Price in early 1900s.
