Scene at Waiuta, Inangahua County, which was centred on the Blackwater gold mine. Shows two rows of miners' huts, probably prefabricated. Each of them has a front door, one window, a small verandah in front, and a chimney. Photograph taken by William Archer Price circa 1910.

Historical Notes: The 'Red Huts' were built circa 1908 by Blackwater Mines Ltd for single workers, and were sold as farm huts etc when the mine, and town, closed in 1951.
