Historical Notes: The vault was built into a hillside during the Second World War with the threat of a Japanese invasion. The house was built on top to lessen the chance of vandalism. In 1972 the house was sold when Reserve Bank documents were able to be housed in the new building on The Terrace. The North's bought the house in 1977. (Information from Evening Post, 11 April 1996)
