Entrance hall of house in Springfield road, Christchurch, New Zealand. Architects were the England Brothers. Photographed by Steffano Webb in 1907.The view includes the carpeted floor, a staircase to the left, a hall seat to the right, and a far door open giving a glimpse into the room beyond. The woodwork of the stairs and the wall paneling are in an arts and crafts/art nouveau style, as is the wallpaper on the staircase walls. Art pottery palm pots have been placed in different parts of the view.

Historical Notes: The house of which this entrance hall is a part, was built in 1906. The English Brothers architectural firm was set up in 1905 when Robert England, an established Christchurch architect, was joined by his brother, Edward.
