Historical Notes: Published in the New Zealand Free Lance, 19 October 1955, p 28: `THE FIRST CITY COUNCIL FLATS in Wellington built expressly for the use of elderly folk and pensioners have been opened by the Mayor, R. L. Macalister. The flats, comprising 32 units, are in Rintoul Street, Berhampore, and look out over the city on one side and to the sea south of Wellington on the other. Sixteen of the flats have already been allotted and the others will shortly be occupied by more tenants.'
