View looking across Heretaunga Street in Hastings at the damage done by the Napier earthquake to the Grand Hotel and surrounding business premises (including that of H O Shattky and Henry K Thomson). Shows the street-front facade of the hotel building collapsed in a pile of rubble, leaving the interior and rooms exposed. Photograph taken after the earthquake on 3 February 1931, by an unidentified photographer.
