Historical Notes: Ship was built in 1896. Provided a passenger ferry service in Wellington Harbour, and also towed sailing ships in ballast between Wellington, Lyttleton and Picton. In 1930 changed ownership and was taken to Auckland. There the ship provided a regular Auckland-Waiheke-Kawau Island sevice, and was also used for charter cruises around the Hauraki Gulf. During the Second World War was requisitioned and fitted out as a mine sweeper, then as an examination vessel in Rangitoto Channel. In 1946 after being declared surplus to requirements it was sold and broken up. (Information from Local History on Line, http://www.localhistoryonline.org.nz).
