Street scene in the town of Kaniere, Westland. Piles of wood are in the foreground and alongside a railway line on the right. Further to the right is a wooden structure (fluming?). A row of business premises is on the left including the Kanieri [sic] Junction Hotel and a butcher shop with carcasses hanging outside. Signs on the hotel advertise publican Thomas Thompson. Photograph taken in 1871. Photographer unidentified.
