Life-size half-length portrait of scientist and explorer Sir Joseph Banks, seated in uniform of the Windsor pattern, holding Fen chart inscribed: "Sketch of the culvert & drains at Cow Bridge". Appears to derive, with modifications, from Thomas Phillips' portrait of 1814, in the Guildhall, Boston, Lincolnshire (see TL 3/1/1 20/11/1985)
