Historical Notes: This chair replaced the ordinary arm chairs introduced by the first Labour Government in 1935. It was a gift from the British House of Commons, and was presented by a deputation of MPs from Britain. It was placed in position on the 21st of November 1951 (Source: Evening Post, 21 December 1951).
