Historical Notes: John Bingley Garland joined the Forty Third Regiment on the 22nd of May 1863 and was promoted Lieutenant on the 2nd of May 1864. George Garland joined the regiment on the 6th of February 1857 and was promoted Lieutenant on the 1st of April 1861. (Info Harts army List, 1865, July-October, p 204).
