Historical Notes: "U" 65 was built by New Zealand Railways at Addington (maker's no 21/98), went into service in July 1898 and was written off in October 1959. See "Register of New Zealand Railways steam locomotives, 1863-1971" by W G Lloyd, 1974, p45.
