The cartoon puns upon the words 'plain' and 'jars'. A man buying beer in plain flagon jars from a 'Flagon Bar' counter in a public bar, holding an empty crate at the ready on the counter, decides to stock up. Communist forces had taken the Plaine des Jarres in Laos.
