Historical Notes: "K" 900 steam locomotive (4-8-4 type) was built by New Zealand Railways at Hutt Railway Workshops (maker's No 277/32), went into service in November 1932, was written off in July 1964, and was preserved. See "Register of New Zealand Railways steam locomotives, 1863-1971" by W G Lloyd.
