Historical Notes: "Ab" 783 steam locomotive (4-6-2 type) was built by New Zealand Railways at Addington (maker's No 240/26), went into service in July 1926 and was written off in November 1966. See "Register of New Zealand Railways steam locomotives, 1863-1971" by W G Lloyd.
