Historical Notes: NZR locomotive "E" 175 (0-4-4-0T) was built by Vulcan for the Dunedin and Port Chalmers Railway Company, and arrived in New Zealand in 1872. Named "Josephine". Taken into stock by New Zealand Railways and classified "E" 175 after 1876, then written off and sold in 1899. See "Register of New Zealand Railways steam locomotives 1863-1971" by W G Lloyd, and "Cavalcade of New Zealand locomotives" by A N Palmer and W W Stewart.
