Historical Notes: "W" 192 steam locomotive was built by New Zealand Railways at Addington (maker's no. 1/89), went into service in February 1889 and was written off in July 1959. Fitted with centre-rail brakes for use on the Rimutaka Incline in 1909 or 1910. Retained by NZR for display at the Addington Workshops. See "Register of New Zealand Railways steam locomotives, 1863-1971" by W G Lloyd, and "Cavalcade of New Zealand locomotives" by A N Palmer & W W Stewart.
