Historical Notes: "Q" class steam locomotive no. 346 was built by Baldwin (maker's no. 19250/01), went into service in March 1902, was reboilered with "Ab" type superheated boiler in 1926, and was written off in June 1957. See "Register of New Zealand Railways steam locomotives, 1863-1971" by W G Lloyd (p 60), and "Cavalcade of New Zealand locomotives" by A N Palmer and W W Stewart (p 79).
