Historical Notes: For further information on the monument which was unveiled in 1926, see ATL Biographies Index (1968, Vol 2, p 105-107). He is listed incorrectly as Te Hurunui Apanui in the index, but correctly as Te Hurinui Apanui in the newspaper article (Whakatane Press, 19 July 1926).
