Historical Notes: The tree provides a curiosity, sending a long root down into the ground for nourishment. See "Piha : a history in images" by Sandra Coney (p 37), in which she says the tree can still be seen among the houses on the lower side of Piha Road, past the lookout. (Her book published in 1997)
