Historical Notes: H 202, an H class Fell engine, was built at Avonside Railway Workshops in 1875 (maker's no 1073/75), using the Stephenson link motion on the 'outside' engine. It went into service on the Rimutaka Incline in November 1878, and was written off in March 1956. See "Register of New Zealand Railways steam locomotives, 1863-1971" by W G Lloyd.
