Historical Notes: "Manawatu" was built by Andrew Barclay & Sons, Kilmarnock, Scotland, and arrived in New Zealand on board the SS Rangatira in 1910. Erected at the Petone Railway Workshops. In 1929 sold to Thomas Borthwick & Sons of Paki Paki (later of Waingawa). Note on back of File Print reads "Now (1995) at Silverstream Railway Museum". (Fuller information from "The Sanson Tramway" by K B Cassells, which includes what may be a copy of this original negative, attributed to the A N Palmer Collection)
