Ub Class (Brooks) steam locomotive, New Zealand Railways no 17, 4-6-0 type., 1901?

Reference Number: APG-0292-1/2-G

"Ub" 17 (Brooks), a Ub steam locomotive, type 4-6-0, built by American Locomotive Co., Brooks Works, in 1901. Taken by an unidentified photographer, probably at the Brooks Works in America, before the locomotive was delivered to New Zealand. The number "1" is on the driver's door, with "New Zealand Government Rys" on the tender. This lettering appears to have been done in America, as the New Zealand Railways gave it the class and number "Ub" 17.
