Historical Notes: Oc class locomotive built by Baldwin Locomotive Works, Philadelphia for the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company (maker's no 15055/96), as WMR no 16. At the end of 1908 the company was purchased by the Government, and this engine was renumbered NZR 'Oc' 458. Written off in July 1930. See 'Register of New Zealand steam locomotives, 1863-1971' by W G Lloyd, and 'Cavalcade of New Zealand locomotives' by A N Palmer & W W Stewart.
