Historical Notes: NZR no 197, D class steam locomotive, 2-4-0T, was built by Neilson & Co., Glasgow, went into service in April 1879, was sold in 1916, and written off in 1921. See "Register of New Zealand Railways steam locomotives, 1863-1971" by W G Lloyd; and information in Godber Album at Pa1-q-101 (Vol 108, p 13)
