Historical Notes: On the 28th of September 1976 the armed offenders squad was called out shortly after 3pm when a woman reported to police that she had heard a shot fired outside her house in Fitzroy Street, Wadestown, Wellington. Uniformed police sealed off the area surrounding Fitzroy Street while dogs and squad men slowly closed in on the lower part of the street. Just before 4pm two people were taken away by police and later one man was charged, and appeared in a Wellington court the next morning (info from the Evening Post, 29 September, 1976).
