Historical Notes: This house was built in 1882 for John Harding. It was badly damaged in the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake and by 1955 was due for demolition. It was restored in 1957 by Peter Harding. For further information see the book 'Historic buildings of New Zealand : North Island'.
