Historical Notes: Note on back of file print reads: "When the fleece is shorn from its owner, it is immediately removed by the "picker up" and thrown on to the wool-table, or placed nearby until the table is ready. The hind part of [the ] fleece is grasped first and the rest of the fleece is held by the hand and arms in a "tongs" action. When thrown, the "neck" goes stretching along the table to the top end, and the "britch" or hind of [the ] fleece is released last of all."
