Inscriptions: Inscribed - Recto - above image: Native of New Caledonia from a photograph lent me by Mr Holworthy - Parramatta, April 87. The twisted necklace is made of the fur of the flying fox. The lobe of the right ear is perforated and used for carrying small articles - such as cigarettes. The colours are from his description but the skin is not quite dark enough. JJL [monogram]
