Historical Notes: Cricket pavillion built 1924; Firth House tender notice in Evening Post 20 December 1922, foundation stone laid 25 June 1923, opened 1 December 1924 (architect Charles A Lawrence of Swan, Lawrence & Swan); East School built 1874 and 1883, spire removed 1909, demolished 1931 (architect Christian Julius Toxward); West School tender accepted October 1907, building completed 1908, demolished 1969,(architects Penty and Blake); Gifford Observatory seen here was built 1924. All of the architects involved were Wellington architects.
