Historical Notes: From Evening Post caption, 3 Jul 1935: "...power station which was brought into use on Monday to prevent a complete stoppage of power service consequent on the Manawatu-Oroua Power Board cutting off its electric supplies following a deadlock in recent negotiations...The power board has now restored supplies following an order of the Supreme Court."
