Inscriptions: Inscribed - Verso - Cut over 9/Nov/1949. Harihari RAX (Rural Automatic Exchange). 75 miles south of Greymouth. On account of severe lightening conditions, [unreadable] underground cable - [unreadable] from subscribers houses to exchange. Up till last month (Sept 1954) power supply from private garage power plants. Now fed from Wanganui River (S.I.) Hydro station approx 5 miles away.
